The latitude is 8o 37' N and Longitude is 13o 12' W. Sierra Leone is a Spanish word which means "Lion Mountains" which refers to the constant roaring of thunder. The capital city is Freetown and the currency is Leone. The chief exports of this country are still hand mined is bauxite, diamond, gold, and titanium ore. Two-thirds of the population works in the farms growing cassava, cocoa, coffee, palm kernels, and ginger. The country has 12 ethnic groups; the biggest group among them is Temne and Mende.
