St. Kitts and Nevis is located in the Caribbean Sea, the two islands of St Kitts and Nevis accommodate in the northern part of part of the Leeward Islands. People on St Kitts are called Kittitians and on Nevis are called Nevisians. It is spread over an area of 261 sq kilometer and accommodates 51,936 people. Basseterre is the capital city, and it has the only port and terminal in the country. The predominant religion is the Christian faith. Most inhabitants in these islands engaged in basic agriculture and grow crops including rice, yams, fish, sugarcane, and vegetables and related industries are sugarcane processing, cotton, and salt. St. Kitts economy is based largely on sugar cultivation and tourism, thus sugar cane accounts for twenty-five percent of export and provides twelve per cent of the job facilities. Mount Liamuiga is the highest point in this region and it gets its name from the island of St. Kitts meaning "fertile island".
