The country of Lithuania occupies small area on the Baltic Sea coast and sits south of Latvia. Lithuania covers a land area of 65,200 square kilometers and has a population of 3,700,000 people. Russian and Lithuanian are the main languages people speak in Lithuania. Litas is the currency used in this country. Most of its population lives in the interior of the country, working in farming and industry. Lithuania has wet and cool summers, and cold winters, because of their location on the Baltic Sea. Vilnius is the capital city of Lithuania. It is considered as the reputed cosmopolitan, safe, and friendly city. The dense coniferous and deciduous forests cover between thirty to forty per cent of this region. The coastline, fringed with sand dunes and pine forest is famous for amber. Lithuania produce two-thirds of the world’s amber, fossilized sap of pine trees, which is used to make jewellery in shades of deep gold, yellow, and orange.
