A winter sport is a sport commonly played during winter. Although many sports are played in winter, those known specifically as winter sports are performed on ice and snow, such as skiing, snowboarding or ice hockey. Keen competition has grown up around them. The winter Olympics are held every four years. The main winter sports are ice hockey and figure skating, sledding events, such as luge, skeleton and alpine and Nordic and snowboarding. Other common winter sports include ski boarding, mono skiing, skwal and snowmobiling. Winter sports are not just about snow skiing, there are plenty of activities one can try out. |
