Before the 15th century, books were copied out and illustrated by hand. The development, in the 1450's of a printing press was capable of using movable type led to an information revolution. Large number of books and leaflets could be copied mechanically, quickly and cheaply allowing learning to spread rapidly. Today we are surrounded by printed materials, from magazines, packaging, and posters produced in their thousands to the smaller number of prints made by any artist. Books play a vital role in any individual's life and in his recreation and education system. The Chinese first invented the process of printing in 9th century and it arrived to Europe during 15th century. Thus printing made it possible to mass, produce books and knowledge was spread more widely. Today publishing is global industry.
